Everything You Always Wanted to Know About School But Were Afraid to Ask

so, I am going to read this one to Benjamin.. 

I love my job, I love the pay.

I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; he/she is the best.
I love his boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location.
I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
And the paper that piles up every day.

I love my chair in my padded cell.
There's nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers.
I love their leers and jeers and sneers.

Fifth grade students were directed to fold white paper in half to start this project. They wrote their name and cut it out doubled. This formed the body of the skeleton. Then they added the head, arms and legs. The pieces were mounted on black construction paper.

This idea came from an old Mailbox magazine.

 

Last week was back-to-school time for New York City, but for some students, that meant pulling up a chair at the kitchen table, not returning to a classroom. For a couple of thousand city children, school happens right at home.

Last Thursday at Nelson Mandela was a day for each club to offer a so-called “Schnupperkurs” — a miniature, preview course that allows kids to check out the club and decide whether they’re interested in signing up. Despite a last-minute space conflict, I set up in a classroom with a pile of math books, a few printed articles about people like Vi Hart and Britney Gallivan, and a stack of paper.
